For Your Safety
Your good health is our top priority at Emerson Health. That is why we have a formal Infection Prevention and Control program designed to prevent healthcare-associated infections.
We follow the latest national guidelines to create and maintain a safe environment for everyone who enters our facilities. This includes ongoing education to ensure our staff consistently takes every appropriate infection-control precaution, including:
- Hand hygiene — Hand-washing by healthcare workers before seeing patients, after contact with bodily fluids, before invasive procedures, and after removing gloves
- Respiratory etiquette — To cover the nose and mouth when sneezing or coughing, either by using a tissue or coughing/sneezing into the elbow
- Isolation precautions — To prevent the spread of infections that can be transmitted through contact, healthcare workers must wear gloves and, in some cases, a gown.
How You Can Help
Patients, families, and visitors play an essential role in infection prevention. We encourage you to:
- Wash your hands frequently.
- Follow mask-wearing or isolation guidelines, if provided.
- Speak up if you have questions about infection prevention measures.
