You do not need to be a patient of Emerson and your physician does not need to be affiliated with Emerson Health to be seen at our centers. Emerson Health Urgent Care accepts most health insurance plans. Please note, your insurance will be billed as a specialist office visit, and not an urgent care office visit. Most insurance companies do cover these visits, however, coverage can vary depending on your plan and a referral may be necessary. Most HMO insurance plans will require a referral from your primary care physician. Please check with your insurance provider about coverage.

Some insurance companies require you to get a referral from your primary care physician before you go to an urgent care center. We recommend you check with your insurance prior to being seen by Emerson Health Urgent Care. Depending on your insurance health plan, if a referral is required and you do not request one from your primary care physician, then you could be responsible for all of the costs associated with your visit. Generally, the overall cost of visiting an urgent care facility is going to vary depending on the condition being treated.
