Transforming Health Campaign

Emerson Health is positioned to build upon our regional clinical excellence through a multi-year $120+ million transformational investment, including a minimum of $60 million in philanthropy. This will fundamentally reshape how and where care is delivered by:

  • Improving the patient experience with a new Emergency Department (ED) building, including a dedicated behavioral health unit
  • Expanding outpatient and ambulatory care space on the Hospital campus and in the region to improve access
  • Enhancing facilities across the campus to support advanced technology and highly trained clinical teams

Emerson remains financially strong in a challenging healthcare environment and continues to earn national recognition for quality and patient care. As the region’s trusted healthcare provider, we deliver compassionate, high-quality care 24/7.

Phase One: New Emergency Department & Outpatient Care Building

The first phase includes construction of a modern, 18,000-square-foot Emergency Department at the hospital’s main entrance. Designed to enhance safety, efficiency, and comfort, the new ED will feature:

  • Location at the main entrance to the Hospital Campus
  • Private ED patient rooms to provide enhanced care
  • A dedicated secure behavioral health unit with additional beds within the ED
  • Expanded treatment space to safely accommodate families, clinicians, and equipment
  • Convenient adjacent parking
  • On site radiology services
  • Separate patient and ambulance entrances

As a cornerstone of our regional healthcare system, the transformation plan will create a hospital campus that better reflects the high-quality care available at Emerson. At the same time, our work to deliver care in the broader region will expand. in keeping with Emerson’s commitment to financial integrity, the hospital will not incur new debt to fund this effort.

Together we can ensure Emerson Health remains the premier healthcare provider in our region. To learn more about how you can be involved, please contact Amy Sagalyn, Director of Major Gifts, at 978.287.3583.

A Century of the White House at Emerson Health: Honoring the Past, Building the Future

For nearly a century, the white house stood on Emerson Health’s campus as a symbol of care, community, and adaptability. Originally built as a farmhouse, it later served as a nurses’ residence and support space as the hospital grew to meet the region’s needs.

As part of the Transforming Health initiative, Emerson Health is making way for a new emergency department designed to meet today’s patient demands and future needs. This video reflects on the history of the white house and the hospital’s long-standing partnership with the community. By honoring the past, Emerson Health continues its responsibility to provide safe, accessible, and modern care for generations to come.
