Advanced Endocrine Surgery

Emerson Health is home to the only fellowship-trained endocrine surgeon in the greater Concord area, where we offer surgical treatments for thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal gland disorders.

Additionally, Emerson Health is affiliated with Massachusetts General Hospital — giving you streamlined access to even more advanced endocrine surgery care.

Conditions We Treat

  • Thyroid and parathyroid cancer
  • Adrenal tumors
  • Goiter (abnormal enlargement of the thyroid gland)
  • Graves’ disease (an immune system disorder that results in overproduction of thyroid hormones, or hyperthyroidism)
  • Hashimoto’s disease (also known as chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis, a condition in which the immune system attacks the thyroid, often leading to hypothyroidism, which is an underactive thyroid)
  • Hyperparathyroidism (an abnormally high concentration of parathyroid hormone in the blood, resulting in weakening of the bones through loss of calcium

Our Services

Each patient undergoes a thorough evaluation and consultation to determine if surgery is the right treatment for them.

We provide the full range of diagnostic and treatment services for endocrine-related disorders in adults that require surgery. The surgical services we offer include both open and minimally invasive techniques for:

  • Parathyroid surgery to remove one or all four parathyroid glands (parathyroidectomy).
  • Thyroid surgery including thyroid lobectomy (removal of half the thyroid gland) and total thyroidectomy (removal of the entire thyroid gland).
