Chronic Pain Therapy

Expert Care to Help You Move Beyond Persistent Pain.

The Integrative Chronic Pain Program at the Clough Family Center for Rehabilitative and Sports Therapies helps patients regain control of their life.

Our Services

The Integrative Chronic Pain Program at the Clough Family Center for Rehabilitative and Sports Therapies is designed for individuals dealing with persistent pain. Our unique approach to chronic pain therapy focuses on empowering you to better understand and manage your pain, so you can regain control of your life.

In this program, you’ll work one-on-one with a physical therapist who has advanced training in chronic pain management. Unlike traditional physical therapy, our care plans are tailored specifically to your needs and may include:

  • Education on pain: Understand how pain works and why it persists.
  • Behavior change strategies: Learn ways to reshape habits that may be reinforcing pain.
  • Pain-specific mindfulness techniques: Develop tools to calm your “danger/alarm” system.
  • Movement therapy: Safely explore ways to improve your strength, mobility, and resilience.
  • Lifestyle guidance: Address key factors like nutrition, sleep, and stress that can influence pain.

Who is the Program Designed for?

This program is designed for individuals who have experienced pain for at least six months and have not found success with other treatments, such as chiropractic care, massage, acupuncture, standard physical therapy, medications, or even surgery.

The program may be especially beneficial if you experience pain that:

  • Moves, spreads, or occurs in multiple areas of the body.
  • Changes with stress or your environment (e.g., feeling better on weekends or vacations).
  • Began around the time of a stressful life event.
  • Is highly sensitive to touch or affected by weather or dietary changes.
  • Prevents you from doing important activities that matter to you.

What to Expect

Our program meets you where you are, helping you set realistic and meaningful goals. For some, this may mean achieving pain relief. For others, it is about finding ways to live a more fulfilling life despite the pain. You will learn:

  • How pain works in the body and mind.
  • Movement techniques to improve strength and confidence.
  • Strategies to recognize and change unhelpful thoughts, behaviors, and “danger messages.”
  • Mindfulness tools to reduce stress and quiet the body’s alarm system.
  • Ways to return to activities that bring value and purpose to your life.
  • How to identify lifestyle factors like sleep and nutrition that may influence your pain.

A New Way Forward
This program is particularly effective for individuals open to a mind-body approach and willing to explore innovative techniques that go beyond traditional methods. If you’re ready to take a fresh approach to managing chronic pain, our team is here to guide you every step of the way.
